Soror Lisa Issac, President of the Alpha Alpha Omega Chapter, welcomed over 50 Sorors to the June Luncheon held on Saturday, June 7th at the Grandview Golf Club in Braddock, PA to celebrate 100 Years of Growth, Strength, and Existence of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. The luncheon's theme, "Rooted", as explained by the Mistress of Ceremony, Soror Margaret Larkins-Pettigrew, means to become firmly established, settled, or entrenched. The theme was interwoven into all the detailed elements of the luncheon. Entertainment, spiritual reflections, and spoken word was provided by the house band of the Shadow Lounge, Hambone-Jenkins. Soror Christina Wilds, Achievement Awards Committee Chair, presented the 2008 Achievement Award gift of $1,000 to Courtney Thompkins for her outstanding accomplishments in academics, sports, leadership, and community service. Courtney is a recent graduate of Woodland Hills High School and will be attending Delaware State University in the Fall. Tea Roses to Sorors Yarra Howze and Terri Lewis for doing such an excellent job in planning a the June Luncheon.
