Alpha Kappa Alpha Centennial Prayer
by
Soror Nicole Tuma North Atlantic Region
Most Gracious and Loving God,
As we gather in you presence at this place of sacred celebration,
Our prayer is simple and sincere.
Help Us To Remember!
Help Us To Remember,
That Pink was the shade of your bruises for our Transgressions,
That Green is the color of the Pastures that you lead us to and make us lie down in.
That a True Pearl is your Unchanging, Unfaltering, and Unedited Word.
That Burning Sands scorched your feet on the long road to Calvary.
That Service To All Mankind is not just a saying but cost you your very life.
That a crown of thorn Ivy pierce your brow and covered us in your saving blood.
Help Us To Remember!
Lest we forget, and choke off the depths of our 100 year old roots.
Lest we forget, intake process with innate purpose and lose our very minds.
Lest we forget, that the hall we marched on today declared we were 3/5th of a human being.
Lest we forget, that our Sorority is older than a woman's right to vote.
Lest not forget, that racism, sexism, and hate encroached the children in our community.
Help Us To Remember,
Because when we remember Lord, just how long this road paved in Pink and Green stretches,
We Can't Wait 100 years to say Thank You!
We Can't Wait 100 days to say Blessed Be The One!
We Can't Wait 100 seconds to Lift up our Hands to you Lord,
We've got to say it Right Now!
To God Be The Glory for 100 years of Things He Has Done!
In Jesus Name We Pray,
Amen
